ADMIRE (Advanced Data Mining and Integration Research for Europe) aims to deliver a consistent and easy-to-use technology for extracting information and knowledge. The project is motivated by the difficulty of extracting meaningful information by data mining combinations of data from multiple heterogeneous and distributed resources. Context aware software systems able to adapt automatically to changes in their environments play increasingly vital roles in society’s infrastructures. The demand for adaptive systems appears in many application domains ranging from crisis management applications such as disaster management, first-response, transportation control, and power management to entertainment and business applications such as mobile interactive gaming, tourist guiding and business collaborations (e.g., through virtual organizations and dynamic service compositions). Mancoosi

The main objective of the Mancoosi project is to develop the scientific knowledge and build the tools necessary to manage the complexity of the open source infrastructure. This infrastructure is one of the essential building blocks of tomorrow’s software architectures: the success of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Php) inside as well as outside the data centers is clear evidence of this. Yet, this infrastructure undergoes a fast-paced and distributed evolution that is too often maintained in ad-hoc ways using tools and processes that have clearly attained their limits today. Persist

The objective of PERSIST is to develop Personal Smart Spaces that provide a minimum set of functionalities which can be extended and enhanced as users encounter other smart spaces during their everyday activities. They will be capable of learning and reasoning about users, their intentions, preferences and context. They will be endowed with pro-active behaviours, which enable them to share context information with neighbouring Personal Smart Spaces, resolve conflicts between the preferences of multiple users, make recommendations and act upon them, prioritise, share and balance limited resources between users, services and devices, reason about trustworthiness to protect privacy and be sufficiently fault-tolerant to guarantee their own robustness and dependability. http://www.ict-persist.eu

ProTest

This project will develop software engineering approaches to improve reliability of service-oriented networks in the future. We will support fault-finding and diagnosis, reduce costs and improving effectiveness, based on specified properties of the system. Q-Impress

The Q-ImPrESS project aims at bringing service orientation to critical application domains, such as industrial production control, telecommunication and critical enterprise applications, where guaranteed end-to-end quality of service is particularly important. The project aims at creating a model-driven service engineering methodology for an integrated development process for service-based applications. Shape

The SHAPE project aims to support the development and realization of enterprise systems based on a Semantically-enabled Heterogeneous service Architecture (SHA). SHA extends Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) with semantics and heterogeneous infrastructures (Web services, Agents, Semantic Web Services, P2P and Grid) under a unified service oriented approach.
